Probiotics Benefits for Babies

Is your baby crying with no apparent reason? After every breastfeed you notice your baby be more agitated? Does your baby have troubles sleeping and wakes up few times per night hungry? If could talk to you, your baby would tell you he or she is having digestive discomfort.
Understanding the symptoms and taking the proper action will bring a smile of joy on your baby’s little face and you’ll be more relaxed knowing your baby is healthy and will remain healthy.
Digestive discomfort, colic, acid reflux and constipation are the most common problems for newborns and babies and, as protective and careful parents as we all should be, we have to understand the main deficit in their alimentation that is causing them all that problems and come in our beloved ones help to offer them a great, painless and healthy start in this world. And if we’re doing it right, our babies will gain a lifelong health. It can be hard with a baby knowing what exactly is wrong with them before they can say it in words, if they are doing things such as arching their back during eating, or after eating, looking for help on the situation is the most important for your babies health and your peace of mind.

We are talking about probiotics.

Probiotics refer to all those healthy and helpful bacteria, microbes and other microorganisms that we all need to consume in order to gain a strong digestive system, a good immune system and much more.
When it comes to babies birth and alimentation, there are so many wrong beliefs, that it could take us days to cover all of those in one article, but we will resume to only a few wrong beliefs that we consider to be bad for your baby’s health, if treated as 100% true facts.

Newborns vs microorganisms.

One totally wrong belief is that the amniotic fluid in the womb is sterile and bacteria-free since the beginning of the pregnancy until its end when the mother is giving birth. In fact, all the bacteria and other microorganisms that live in the mother’s body pass into the amniotic fluid, especially when the dilatation occurs.
These microorganisms start multiplying once they’ve reached in the amniotic fluid and pass to the baby’s skin and, also enter into the baby’s digestive system. That won’t be a problem if the mother takes good care of her own health and hygiene and has a healthy microflora.
The real problem is that according to some statistics 85% of women are having an infection at the vaginal level when giving birth. Those pathogenic agents that caused the mother’s vaginal infection pass to the baby during labor and dangerous microorganisms can pass into the baby’s system.
I believe there’s no mother that knows all this stuff and willingly put her newborn in danger, so introducing a probiotic supplement in the mother’s daily diet, since the moment she finds out she’s pregnant, would be the smartest choice to prevent harmful microorganisms multiplying and passing onto the baby.
Probiotic supplements are not harmful for the good evolution of the pregnancy. If you’re not willing to take pills with probiotics or don’t trust pharmaceutical supplements you can always go on the natural way and eat foods that contain probiotics: yogurt, kefir, pickled cabbage, soy milk or dark chocolate. If you are OK with pharmaceutical supplements we recommend you to use Perfect Biotics by Probiotic America

Baby Colic

Baby colic is also a subject of many wrong beliefs, but let’s not get too deep into details. Most parents think baby colic pains are normal and appear no matter what. Wrong! So many babies never have colic pains. Are they luckier than the others?
No, they’re just having a stronger digestive system and that’s because they have that healthy microflora already developed. Your baby can achieve that, too. If your baby has colic pains you can use a probiotic supplement specially created for babies to relief colic pains and to help them develop a healthy microflora, so the colic pains will never come back.

Allergies and microorganisms

Another wrong belief we’re going to debate on today is regarding allergies. Most people are embracing the wrong belief that exposing newborns to microorganisms is a bad thing to do. Somehow they’re right, but they got it wrong.
Preparing a clean environment for the baby is the right thing to do, of course, but if you don’t let your baby get in contact with microorganisms how do you think your baby will develop the immune system?
Center for Allergy Research and Department of Environmental Medicine of Sweden did a research on the development of allergies, including asthma, trying to identify environmental potential risk factors. No risk factors were found.
They didn’t find any environmental risk factors, but they did find something else: intestinal microflora plays a huge role in the maturation of the immune system after birth. Studies done on animals proved that intestinal microflora is helping in the normal development of oral tolerance.
Right after birth, all babies start developing intestinal permeability, which is that normal function of the intestines to let nutrients to be absorbed, but also to work as a barrier for the harmful substance to spread widely in the body. Babies need to develop that function right after birth to take advantage of the colostrum, or the ‘mother’s first milk’ because it contains all the necessary substances for the baby to start developing a strong immune system.
Few hours after developing intestinal permeability, babies start developing that protective barrier on their mucosal lining, which starts to be colonized by beneficial microorganisms which have the role to reinforce mucosal lining barrier.
Colonization with beneficial microorganisms depends on your baby’s nutrition in the first months of life. If that intestines’ barrier is not effective or not well colonized by beneficial microorganisms, food and toxins leak into the blood.
Baby’s system ‘sees’ the food as an invader and develops antibodies to fight the presumed invader, which leads to food allergies.
In conclusion, keeping your baby in a microorganisms-free protective balloon is not such a good idea and if not breastfeeding your baby you should consider to give him those so much needed probiotic supplements. Mommy’s Bliss Baby Probiotic Drops for only $20.40. A small investment for your baby’s lifelong health.

Breast milk vs. Baby formulas

It is important for mothers to know that all babies should be breastfed at least for few months after birth. Another wrong belief is regarding ‘bad’ breast milk and can induce mothers in error. Maybe someone noticed that after every time you’re breastfeeding, your baby has acid reflux, or an overall digestive discomfort and told that your breast milk is causing that to your baby, saying that your breast milk is ‘bad’.
There is no such thing as ‘bad’ breast milk. Your baby is feeling that way because the microflora inside baby’s digestive system is not very well developed and is hard for his or her little organism to digest your breast milk and absorb the nutrients.
Give to your baby probiotic supplements with 20 minutes before breastfeed to help your baby’s digestive system to actually proper digest the breast milk and to absorb all the necessary nutrients.
Baby formulas are OK, but not at all such consistent in nutrients and beneficial substances as the breast milk is. If you don’t have enough breast milk to breastfeeding your baby, or simply don’t want to, it is recommended to use a baby formula that already contains probiotic supplements.
If can’t find that, use any baby formula and introduce probiotic supplements in your baby’s diet. Don’t worry, probiotics can’t harm your baby, in fact, they are helping your baby’s both, digestive and immune systems.
